Game 1
Dog-fight Position

- 1 - grip your opponent’s waist
- 2 - place your arm underneath your opponent’s shoulder (wizard)
- 3 - (optional) the player who has the waist grip can throw their knee over their opponent’s foot
Objective
- Player with waist control
- Get to your opponent’s back
- Get on top
- Player with the control of the shoulder (wizard)
- Either:
- Get to your opponent’s back
- Get your opponent’s back to the mat
Game 2-a
Shelving The Foot

- 1 - place your opponent’s foot into your pocket
- raise one foot to capture the leg
- 2 - using your entire arm it should be cupping around the lower thigh (in-front of the knee), the other hand, cupping around of the upper thigh
- although not shown place your shoulder against your opponent’s thigh
- 3 - the other leg which doesn’t have anything shelving should be resting against the mat
Objective
- Player with the shelved leg
- Get to your opponent’s back
- Player whos leg is being shelved
- Escape the position
Game 2-b
The single leg


- 1 - cup one hand around the knee cap
- although not showing here exactly, place your shoulder into your opponent’s knee
- 2 - sprawl your hip into the mat
- ensure you are sprawling on the side which has the grip around the knee
Objective
- Player who has the knee
- Gain height, take your opponent’s back
- you do this by transitioning into the position from game 1
- breaking your opponent down to his side
- then taking his back
- Player who has no meaningful connection
- Prevent the player who is on your knee from taking your back and escape the position
Game 3
Deep Side Control

- Bottom
- 1 - place your hand into the waist of your opponent
- 2 - place your forearm into the neck of your
- Top
- 3 - shoulder into the face
- make them turn away from you
- 4 - although its not shown, place your arm into the waist of your opponent
Objective
- Top
- Keep side control, it doesn’t have to look exactly like the one shown.
- the idea is just to keep your opponent’s back connected to the mat, always have your shoulder pressing into their cheek
- if your advance enough go into mount and then transition to side control on the opposite side
- Bottom
- Escape side control → get to your opponent’s back
Context Switching
Game 4
Starting Position → Half / Closed guard
Objective
- Top player
- Pass your opponent’s guard
- Get to side control
- maintain chest to chest contact, shoulder to cheek for the duration of the stipulated time
- Bottom player
- Prevent your opponent from passing
- Either
- reverse the position
- you get to a more dominant position than being on your back (side control, mount, north-south)
Game 5
Starting position → Standing vs Seated
Objective
- Player who is standing
- You are to pass your opponent’s guard using meaningful connections to their feet and facing their hips away from you
- Get to side control → depending on what should be learnt there is the option to either:
- maintain the position for the duration of time
- get to side control, consulate the position for 3 seconds, that is a considered a win
- Player who is seated → Game is continuous
- You are to prevent any guard passing
- depending on what should be learnt there is the option to:
- off-balance/sweep your opponent
- get subs from the seated/supine position
